Now for my favorite talk of the event, the #38c3 Infrastructure Review.
Organizing an event like this is no small feat—it takes immense effort from planning to clean-up. Let's hear from the various teams that made this event possible.
🧵
Next up is the Chaos Post (@ChaosPost).
Stats:
- 48k Postcards used
- Postcards were sent to 59 Countries.
- 902 Online postcards where 328 where marked as delivered.
- 300 Archive Postcards were delivered
- More than 23 new postcard designs
There was a new Photo2Postcard service. New coloring postcard for kids.
Next up is the C3 Lingo (@c3lingo) who interprets the talks. They interpret 100% of all of the talks with a team of 75 interpreters. Most talks were translated into German / English but also several other languages. This year they had 3 translators per both instead of 2 that they had last year.
Over 6 Mhw of power was used through the event or the equivalent of 5 bitcoin transactions. The Yolo colo and Pizza Plaza used the most power. #38c3
LOC Help desk:
- Over 1910 logged requests
- Do not press button was pressed 1600 times
- Peak time is 16:00
The elevator technician had to be called 16 times to fix the freight elevator.
The team had to fight audio delay and encoding issues that was discovered during post production of the talks. #38c3
Some oddities that happened:
1) Broken Schuko connector that was due to a lose screw
2) PPPoE Adapter? POE with 3 Phases 😂
3) Cables stuck down to the floor. POC can provide power mats that are cleaner / safer.
4) Co-operation with NOC for DMR. NOC couldn't get the door open so had to get in from the back side of the rack.
Next up is the developer of the Android app for the Fahrplan. 4006 people installed the app. #38c3
There was an audio issue during day 0 / 1 which was result of broken SDI embedders. The team got trolled by the DIP switches on the SDI devices. #38c3
One of the main problems this year was that the number of talks increase and the break time is decreasing. This was solved by using a new distribution tool. The audience was able to tune in via the new audio portal. #38c3
