Identity theft, credit card fraud and cloaking services – how state-sponsored propaganda makes use of the cyber criminal toolbox by Alexej Hock & Max Bernhard
Research by CORRECTIV and Qurium has revealed that the Russian state relies on the toolbox of internet fraudsters for the dissemination of propaganda and fakes. A talk on the state's possible alliance with the criminal world - and on possibilities and limitations of countering it.
Over 6 Mhw of power was used through the event or the equivalent of 5 bitcoin transactions. The Yolo colo and Pizza Plaza used the most power. #38c3
TNSecurity aka "Evil Empire" was thought to be Latvian but was actually revealed to be Russian. A lot of the "bullet proof" hosting providers allow Phishing, Crypto scams and Stealers, botnets, etc but it can't target bodies of the Russian Federation. #38c3
Next up is the Heaven / Angel team.
Stats:
- 4691 Angels arrived and 3481 angels that worked at least 1 shift.
- Around 4 years of planned shifts + 2.18 years of worklogs
- 6653 Shifts in the System
- 114 Locations, 67 Angel types and 134 shift types.
Most of the new shift types were the result of the new evacuation requirement.
Now for my favorite talk of the event, the #38c3 Infrastructure Review.
Organizing an event like this is no small feat—it takes immense effort from planning to clean-up. Let's hear from the various teams that made this event possible.
🧵
First up is C3 Stadtwerke (@c3stadtwerke) who is responsible for power (@c3power), communication (@c3roc), water and access control.
The team built a 90's style dashboard for management.
There was a IPv6 issue where the first packet said it was the router and the second packet said it was not the router. This caused many issues that could be fixed though a configuration on the router.
The team had several IPv6 issues that they tried to resolve. The team ran a NAT server for the first time that had about 200k active sessions.
There was over 8000 clients using the Wifi. The table that they were querying could only resolve 8000 clients, until they fixed it. Most devices were using 5Ghz with some residential 2.4Ghz usage as well as 6Ghz usage. #38c3
