Not understanding what people like about a Congress really drives me nuts right now.
Like, I was at #38C3 today… and I tried for the whole day to pinpoint what exactly people like about it. Honest to any higher power available, I simply do not get it.
Like… it's loud, it's expensive, most of the talks are available online anyway, and others could be too… anything in the workshops can also be learned from a well-written tutorial (even from the projects' website, if applicable).
What is it? 😕

The #38C3 presentation about the massive #Volkswagen data leak is over and the leak was as bad as it sounded. 100,000s of cars could be located down to cm precision. Also a lot of metadata that is NOT supposed to be public. Disturbing.
The main takeaway was that the real problem here wasn't the leak itself, but that this data was collected in the first place.
I agree. It's not a good idea to create mountains of very personal data and then pray it never leaks.
