one of the great talks of - @zverik using osm data to bring the 15-minute city concept to life (also featuring a very well prepared demo section) fosdem.org/2025/schedule/event

💁🏻 tips sought on minimal dependency blogging? as a person who posts rarely (i.e. after returning from feeling all utopian), i recently tried to dust off my 11ty site... being unmaintained for a year, it is unsurprisingly not working and i've lost enthusiasm for static site gens, (thanks to Łukasz for the beautiful template though). seems it's time to make like @froos and just write markup? garten.salat.dev/meta/youre-do @lukem github.com/lwojcik/eleventy-te

save lives, deliver babies: one of the best talks from

How London Ambulance Service use open data to locate patients; how your phone sends live geospatial information to their control room; how other open (and some not-open) data saves lives across London every day. suitable for all ages.

@bitboxer the arguments seem part of the show. even featured a stage invasion recently! i remember the 2019 final keynote saying "foss is capitalism" and then <big scary sponsor> getting namechecked during the infra review eliciting a Janson sized roar of disapproval. <big scary sponsors> have had much less fanfare since then, but still, what is for: utopia, dystopia, or an awkward mix of the two?

@yaxu @TodePond come to it's freedom free, which does mean you get to buy your own train ticket etc. but it's such a spectacular outpouring of open sourcery that it's worth it anyway as a mini sabbatical for the spirit. imagine a pub meetup scaled to 10K open sourcerers fueled by trappist monks, carmelite nuns, and smurfs. it definitely needs a livecoding presence!
