I spotted presentations by #ActivityPub royals (@evan @cwebber), Ghost founder @johnonolan... as well as talks like "Friendica - under the radar since 2010".

I cannot wait for February 😊

My 2024 in tech – UPDATED
- Jan-May: same old same old
- mid-Jun: I started the blog #TheFutureIsFederated
- Jul: I started doing interoperability tests between #Fediverse projects
- Aug: I federated my Wordpress site, joined Friendica and 3 content aggregators. More tests
- Sep: I federated 2 more WP sites
- Oct: I joined #Sharkey
- Nov: I got a #RaspberryPi5 and installed Ubuntu on it; started learning #Linux
- Dec: I joined #Misskey & am researching VPSs

I am totally smitten with fonts by Nicky Laatz, so shout out to this independent creator: nickylaatz.com/ I wish she'd set up an account on the Fediverse.

Planning to use her Eighties Comeback font for a new blog series (about my Linux learning journey).

Next up: creating + ordering custom t-shirts for me to wear at #Fosdem, with messages that promote the #Fediverse .

I’m a total #Linux newbie but reading the list of accepted stands at #fosdem2025 is getting me sooo excited about attending: fosdem.org/2025/news/2024-11-16-stands-announced/

I hear talks at #FOSDEM make it feel like a 2 week conference packed in two days. I can’t wait to see the program.

This will be the first IRL conference I will attend since Women of the World in London (early March 2020). Then the world shut down. And then I had a baby (who’s now almost 4).

I’ve got 40 min to study Linux before she wakes up 😅

I just booked my train and lodging for #Fosdem2025 – I can't wait 🥳

(This is fantastic motivation for me to get started with my Linux / Raspberry Pi adventures)
