Is there really such a thing as an “open source AI model”? Sure some have open weights or are free as in beer but I don’t think any of these are really open source.

Now we have the introduction of Kueue, pronounced “Q”, that handles resource scheduling in multi-tenant cluster workloads. I don’t love the name but it’s another incredible project!

Now we have SUSE CEO Dirk-Peter van Leeuwen on stage at talking open source, Rancher, Kubernetes, and AI. I’m a big believer in K3S and am glad to see how committed SUSE has been to open source.

Now Coreweave (“the AI hyperscaler”) is on stage at . They’ve spent huge money to secure a massive stockpile of GPUs and offer these to customers for AI training leveraging Kubernetes.

I love that we’ve come to the point that Oracle will stand on stage touting the value of open source both internally and to customers. OCI is the “dark horse” cloud that’s quietly absorbing enterprise applications.
