@kushal recently uploaded a bunch of great photos from this year's #PyConUS. ๐

I posted a rambling reflection on my #PyConUS experience.
See you in Pittsburgh again in 2025!
This is the first year that after the #PyConUS sprints, I find myself scanning the recent issues and pull requests on CPython's repository to watch the improvements happen on a Python feature in real-time. โณ
I was planning to wait until the next beta to re-install Python 3.13, but I had to try it out again yesterday after seeing some fixes land. ๐
I'm not a #Python core developer and I'm not usually an early adopter, but I am so excited for each new improvement in the new Python REPL. ๐
Let's say a #PyConUS attendee didn't attend the sprints this year but they plan to next year. They'd like to prepare themselves over the next year.
Thoughts? Advice?
I decided to be #vegan for the week of #PyConUS 2024. I put little effort into this endeavor but I did think about it during each meal.
I'd like to share how it went, but first I'll note why I did this.
Since early 2020, I've been attempting to gradually reducing the animal suffering I cause (as much as I'm individually able to).
I focused one-by-one on small habit changes that had large impacts (e.g. I completely cut out chicken first). After ~2 years of this, I was #vegetarian.
Guess which Norwegian, needleworking, library-indexing, BeeWare contributing folks are now on Mastodon in preparation for a future Python conference. ๐ณ๐ด๐งต๐๐
Ended our last night at #PyConUS with @melaniearbor and I playing Cabo with @ethantyping, @Yhg1s, @ehmatthes, and Hood. ๐
Pretty excellent final group of Cabo folks. ๐
For all who enjoyed the experience of Cabo, if you'd like to play it with other friends or spread it at other conferences, here's the version of the rules I play by: https://treyhunner.com/2015/06/cabo-card-game/
I'm so glad these tables ended having a couple dozen folks sitting at them by afternoon! ๐
Next year at #PyConUS, tell everyone you meet about the rooftop track, rooftop lunch area, rooftop open spaces (I hosted one that went well), and rooftop sprints!
Anyone running Fedora willing to share what your /etc/inputrc file looks like? (assuming you haven't modified it)
Not one project is holding their sprint on the rooftop (4th floor). I feel like that's a missed opportunity here. #PyConUS
