Hey folks, one last entreaty before the #PyConUS hashtag trails off.
We could really use your financial support. Our non-profit #ScholarshipFund is the travel sponsor for #PyCon US 2024.
We've recouped only 4% of what we gave. We're here to serve & happy to do it but could really use some boosts across the fediverse to drive donors so we can do it again.
Pls donate to help more people experience #Pittsburgh through tech conference travel:

And then boost!
We had a blast providing live captioning at PyCon US 2024! 😍

Yesterday was my first time doing #sprints at #PyConUS (or anywhere), and I didn't know what to expect coming in. From the time I asked "is this the @coveragepy table?" to when I left, a table of complete strangers were so kind, funny, helpful, and patient as I explained my idea, got set up, and started hacking away while asking tons of questions all along. Thanks to @nedbat @grohe43 @marcgibbons @kevin and the rest of the sprinters for being the best example of what #OSS collaboration can be.
Is there anyone at #PyConUS sprints who knows stuff about SEO and is free for a chat today? I'm looking into how to improve the rankings of the official Python docs on Google et al.
It was delightful to get feedback at #PyConUS for my *last year's* keynote (https://nedbatchelder.com/text/key23.html). But the most surprising and joyous was this drawing by @ludob of the moment when I showed coverage.py's Sleepy Snake mascot (https://nedbatchelder.com/blog/201912/sleepy_snake.html).
The worst thing about #PyConUS is that there is no way to spend the time I want to with all the people I'd want to spend time with, even if I didn't also meet fantastic NEW people all the time.
There's a finance-related conference at one of the #PyConUS hotels this week. I've been asking people with speaker badges in the elevator what they're talking about. One person:
"Artificial intelligence! There's been a lot of advances recently!"
You don't say...
You heard it here: a PyCon cruise called Sea Python. Blame @jrrickerson for it. #PyConUS
Guess which Norwegian, needleworking, library-indexing, BeeWare contributing folks are now on Mastodon in preparation for a future Python conference. 🇳🇴🧵📚🐝
