PyCon US 2024

Day 8: Sprints (35)

Folks are asking what's next for me after .

I'm trying to figure out how to actually get paid doing things I'm good at 🤑

I'm working on finalizing how "Mariatta as a Consulting Service" would look like, so stay tuned for news.

Meanwhile one way you can support me is by sponsoring me on GitHub.

Thanks to the 11 people who are currently already sponsoring me.

I'm still at the sprints and would be happy to chat more in person!

I want to thank everyone who donated. In the end we raised over $15,300 from over 280 Donations at !

This will contribute to building communities, giving Pythonistas a chance to lead initiatives and support a lot of conferences who want to see a more diverse Python community.

Now that is over, why not attend and support a regional conference?

PyCon US sold out this year, and it will probably continue to do so. Smaller, regional events are going to be a more important part of how we support the growth of our community, but we need your support -- attendance and sponsorship -- to fulfil that role.

I run @NorthBayPython (), but there's plenty of others in the US, including fellow @ThePSF events @pycascades and @pyohio off the top of my head.

We've still got a few Lost and Found items in the staff room 306/307! If an item belongs to you, please come collect it by 3pm today or 2:30pm tomorrow.

After that, we will turn the items over to the convention center who will hold them for 30 days before donating them to charity.

Thanks to everyone who came to the Beautiful Soup anniversary celebration at . I loved hearing all the stories of people getting into Python or programming through Beautiful Soup, using it for projects big and small.

@pycon 2025 should/must have a masking mandate (if the situation is comparable to 2024)? @Thepsf

If YES, give a reason

Well, another is done (for me - continue for another couple of days!)

It was excellent catching up with old friends and meeting tons of new ones. Pittsburgh was definitely a super cool vibe, 2025 should be fun too.

I'm looking forward to recharging my depleted physical batteries, so I can jump into all the important work we have ahead of us to continue to support this amazing community.

See you online somewhere!!

Honestly it makes sense why there was a lot of frustration about masking at — the world really has decided to move on. I’m still glad we wore masks and allowed friends like @bitprophet, @brainwane, and others to join us.
