First thoughts coming back from #PyConUS #pyconus2024: Do you know anyone who works hard but is unrecognized in your #Python community? Nominate them for stuff at the @thepsf ! Don't know what or how? I've written a README here:

I’ll also just add — look, I’m someone who has decided to accept a fair amount of COVID risk. I’m living a life now pretty similar to pre-2020. I don’t mask much in daily life. I’d feel comfortable at a conference without a mask. I’m a bit hard of hearing and mildly face-blind so masks actually are a bit tricky for me. But I’m still all for a mask mandate because it’s not just about me! It’s about inclusivity and being welcoming and JFC wearing a mask is easy so why not? #PyConUS
Probably long overdue, but after my (great) experience at #pyconus I decided to become a PSF member today. If you value something, support it. The default fee is $99 USD, but they recently created a sliding scale to make it more accessible across the world.
If for no other reason*, I support a mask requirement at #PyConUS because the kind of person who doesn’t attend because they’re required to mask is the kind of person who I don’t want to hang out with anyway.
(* and there are lots of other good reasons too)
Flask-Mail 0.10 released, after a 10 year hiatus! Thanks to @wlach for picking it up at the #PyConUS sprint. This is part of my Pallets-Eco initiative to get old popular extensions maintained again. It's been unarchived and refreshed. I went through and closed out a lot of the issue backlog. We'll have to figure out what a 1.0 release will look like. https://github.com/pallets-eco/flask-mail/releases/tag/0.10.0 #Python #Flask
Left from #PyConUS about 33 hrs ago. Had a scratchy throat this morning w/ a negative test and just now have a positive test.
I went out with various groups, unmasked, throughout the weekend. This was a risk I was willing to take. Still, I'm glad I was wearing a mask in the convention center around folks who did not choose to take that same risk.
I'm gonna go rest now.
Since people seem to like polls about the #pyconus mask policy, let's try these two:
First, if you attended or considered attending #pyconus 2024, and are considering attending PyCon US 2025, which of the following mask policies would you be okay with (i.e., which policies would _not_ make you decide not to attend)?
if you have problem in organizing python user-group or pycon in your region, please contact me.
if my schedule dose not meet. email me kwonhan.bae@python.org
Nostalgia makes us valorize the past. And yes, Pythonland was joyful and fulfilling in "the old days."
But after #pyconus last week, I'm convinced…it's even better now.
Logging in to take a look at some talks on the online platform for #PyConUS, even though I'm done with the conference now, I just noticed that the attendee dashboard has a section for "sponsor badge scans", giving transparency over which sponsors got my contact details. That is a *really* nice touch, thank you @ThePSF .
