Did anyone take a photo of Deb Nicholson pineapple pizza slide? 🍍🍕
As an Italian, I was too shocked to react quickly enough and capture it myself 😭
After my talk this morning, I spent most of the afternoon in the hallway track talking with many people from the community 🙂
A lot of conversations started directly from the topics discussed during the session.
PyCon US 2026 has officially started at the Long Beach Convention Center with the opening presentation from the Python Software Foundation ✨
The venue is now completely full of people from the Python community from all around the world.
It was really nice to receive so many thoughtful reactions and continue the discussion in a much more informal way during the rest of the day ✨
I also met old friends, speakers, maintainers, and many people I usually only know from online communities 📸

Thanks @Lorenanicole for capturing that moment during the talk 🙂 and for sharing the photo.
As for sleep… currently somewhere between jet lag and conference adrenaline 😴✨

Thanks @SnoopJ for sharing the photo and for capturing that moment from the talk 🙂✨
That slide about the fragile foundations of modern infrastructure still feels incredibly relevant today.
One of the things I enjoy the most at conferences like PyCon US is exactly this atmosphere around the hallway track.
So many spontaneous conversations, shared experiences, community stories, and people genuinely interested in collaborating and helping each other 🙂

Thanks @kevin 😃 really appreciated the live thread and the thoughtful coverage of the talk.
I’m very happy you enjoyed both the discussion around AI-assisted contributions and also the final reference to Django on the Med ✨
Today at 11:00 AM I’ll be speaking at PyCon US in Grand Ballroom A about AI-assisted contributions and the impact they are already having on open source maintainers 🎤
Really curious to hear how other people in the community are experiencing this shift in practice and discuss it after the talk.
