Three years on deck: one learning the ropes, one at the helm, one steering through the storm.
Smooth seas make ordinary sailors. This year made you a true captain.
Thank you @elthenerd for steering us. 🫡
Congratulations on chairing! Enjoy your shore leave. You've earned it. ⚓

As much fun as #PyConUS has been, being off a bike that long in nice weather was a bit disorienting!
The Long Beach bikeshare is a very interesting one. All electronics are on the bike (and solar!), and there is a U-lock and integrated holster. Racks are just dumb metal and for a $2 you can lock to anything. $1 credit if you return a bike to the official rack.
First time using a Sturmey-Archer with a twist shifter but it worked well. Interestingly, it still has the dead zone between 2 and 3, I'd thought that was fixed in modern hubs? Not really a problem though.
Brake levers are inverted which was interesting but worked well. Very enjoyable ride
I won snake earrings from the PyLadies auction at #PyconUS this year!
And my employer matched donation, so that's $1400 for the PyLadies foundation. $60,000 was raised total on the night.
Good bidding, everyone!

Slides from my talk at #PyConUS are live!

The recording should come out in a few weeks on the PyCon US YouTube channel.
I wrote up my #PyconUS 2026 experience: https://blog.pamelafox.org/2026/05/pycon-2026-reflections.html
(you can just scroll through the pics, it got kind of long - what a week!)
Just arrived back home after a long and tiring trip ✈️
But it was absolutely worth it. PyCon US 2026 was an intense week full of talks, keynotes, hallway track conversations, and so many encounters with people from the community.
As always, the best part of conferences for me is the people and the chance to create more connections around open source and Python.
Thanks everyone 💚
Hope to see some of you at PyCon Italia 🙂
Visiting the Long Beach Chess Club was a great way to close out a week of PyCon!
So long #PyConUS, and thanks for all the snek.
🐍❤️🎉
Heading to the airport to go home from an amazing #PyConUS ! I saw old friends, met some of you for the first time, and made a bunch of new friends. I learned a ton and made my first CPython contribution. It was a great time!
Thank you @pycon @ThePSF @elthenerd @jonafato and to everyone else involved!
Can't wait till next year!!!
