Today was Beginners Day at @pycon 2026 ๐
Me and @carlton used the morning to run Django Off The Med: a small @django sprint, far from the sea but with the same spirit of Django on the Med.
Beginners, first-time contributors, and more experienced people worked together on issues and pull requests.
A productive and very nice way to start the conference ๐

After the morning workshop about Django here at @pycon 2026, we rewarded ourselves with a good lunch at the hotel restaurant ๐๐
In the afternoon, while finishing setting up the community booths, I started meeting participants arriving for registration. Many of them then stayed for a relaxed chat and an aperitivo outside near the hotel bar โจ
After cooling down from the intense heat with a swim in the hotel pool, we treated ourselves to a very typical Bolognese dinner near the hotel ๐โจ
Then one last round of chats at the hotel bar before the night ended.
Days at @pycon always become very long, and somehow nobody ever seems to want to go to sleep ๐
Next stop: the official start of the conference tomorrow morning ๐
