AWS re:Invent 2024

My shortest recommendations:

Lip balm. Seriously, pack extras.
Comfy shoes; there’s a lot of walking.
Dress in layers; there’s a huge day/night difference, but also indoors/outdoors.
Backpack beats shoulder bag.
Drink water.
Talk to people. The hallway track beats the keynote track.

This JPMC presentation at feels a bit overly rehearsed — which if anything emphasises just how good the AWS presenters are, to make their presentations feel as natural as they do.

If you go to the website and click on Topics, you’ll see that the first item on the list is “/ML”. Then you’ll notice that the next item is “Analytics,” and then you realise that actually, the list is sorted alphabetically. But why let such boring details stand in the way of a good story? Let's talk about how we can make work for you. Hint: the key is . snaplogic.com/blog/autonomous-

I love AWS , I really do — but why do they have to make it so hard to get a direct link to a session? I'm here planning out my week with colleagues, and I want to send them the link to a cool session — no can do. We are reduced to copying and pasting session IDs, like *animals*.

The room seems a bit bemused at the SageMaker HyperPod training plans. This just does not seem like a problem which that many companies have?

These are some amazingly ugly slides for something that is supposed to be all about pretty visuals.

I never thought I would hear Smells Like Teen Spirit arranged for a string quartet, but here we are.
