Loves low-level stuff and having fun with assembly, embedded stuff and digging into weird stuff on the x86 architecture. Sometimes writes Android apps, web apps etc. Likes Rust , but still prefers C⁠+⁠+.

Just an old geek. Learned about computers on a CARDIAC (CARDboard Illustrative Aid to Computation). Then the math teacher at HS got an old Navy surplus computer with drum memory. It had a high speed optical paper tape reader. From there it was BASIC, Cobol, FORTRAN, CMS-2Y, Jovial, Ada. Did some Java and C but never got that good. In retirement learning Rust.

I have done a ton of Go and Python and Java through 15 years of work, and a bit of Rust for fun, really enjoy distributed systems and concurrency and I have Opinions™ and Ideas™ but I'll refrain from shouting them into the void.

I'm pretty sparse with toots and boosts, and I promise not to flood your feed because I'm not fond of it myself. (Corollary: if I unfollow you, it doesn't mean I don't like your posts! I just read literally everything, and can't handle volume)

For music, I use Max/MSP, Tidal Cycles/SuperCollider, and Lilypond, as well as writing for acoustic instruments, and I like to mix glitchy, noisy, microtonal sounds with “cheesy” retro synths

For programming, I use Rust, C++/JUCE, and C; I made my IndieWeb-style website with 11ty; and I like using Neovim

I also like fountain pens, analog photography, and I'm getting into TTRPGs
