I like Raymond Smullyan, David Graeber, Virginie Despentes, and Agnes Henry (although her books are unfindable so it's merely an optimistic guess). Emacs is my comfort zone, and a recent thing I've discovered is J programming along with Kenneth Iverson's lovely little books he did.

Worked for 43 years on multiple systems. Comfortable with ZOS, Z/VSE, windows, UNIX, Chrome and Linux. Worked as developer and support, team lead and business analyst. COBOL, ASSEMBLER, BASIC, C, learning RUST & PYTHON. Developer and DBA using IDMS based applications, dev & support for DB2 based systems. I'm still learning and a semi-cranky senior!

Just an old geek. Learned about computers on a CARDIAC (CARDboard Illustrative Aid to Computation). Then the math teacher at HS got an old Navy surplus computer with drum memory. It had a high speed optical paper tape reader. From there it was BASIC, Cobol, FORTRAN, CMS-2Y, Jovial, Ada. Did some Java and C but never got that good. In retirement learning Rust.
