Day 1 (250) Josh Tumath (161)

@pixelambacht Roel recommends getting your fonts from indie font designers. There's a bunch of them who are massive web nerds who love all these OpenType features.

Yay we always have a talk from a CSS artist. This year it's @julia_miocene who is an amazing character artist and she can do it all in CSS!

@matthiasott We've reached a point of singularity. The way we should write websites has completely changed.

Matthias said CSS is the most powerful design tool for the web. Now it's our tools that are limiting us, not helping us!!

11 5 2

@matthiasott We don't tell the browser what it must render. We don't say how the design must look. We are making a suggestion. That's the reality. @adactio calls it Declarative Design.

@pixelambacht Super hot tip!! The perfect way to vertical-align text: calc(1ex - 1cap). Wohhh!

7 1 2

@pixelambacht he made his own font that uses ligatures to convert tech buzzwords to bull****.

Next is Rule Knee Scans talking about OpenType fonts! His name is often mispronounced by English speakers. @pixelambacht

@stephenhay Wow, they're still receiving designs for Zen Garden with modern CSS.

Next is @fantasai. I love this. A very nerdy deep dive into the browser wars, to start. The @w3c are working extremely hard to get browsers to be interoperable.

@matthiasott This is so true. Designers aren't able to recreate or model in their design tools what we can do! And it's making it really hard to utilise some of this stuff.

I can really relate to this.
