DjangoCon US 2024

I was really looking forward to this year's , but life had other plans. I ended up in the ICU this past weekend, after walking around for a week or so with a pulmonary embolism(!)

I'm recovering slowly but well. I don't miss programming at the moment, but I sure miss all the people I've met through programming, especially in the Django world.

Happy conferencing everyone, and I'll see you next year!

I thought @djangocon’s COVID policy struck a good balance this year (again): Testing on the day of the conference, and again before the sprints, plus a seating area in the talks where masks were required. This seemed to me to work well. Wonder what others think? πŸ‚

Thank you so much for another great conference! I decided to head back a little early so I missed saying goodbye to a lot of you πŸ’š

But we’ll see each other soon!

Very excited to be going to next week! Love Durham and Django! It'll be my first time at a conference since PyTennessee 2020 just before COVID broke everything. If you'd like a Firefox sticker come find me!

Here's my highlights blog post from our DjangoCon US 2024 trip.

I share my experiences from the conference, highlight some talks I saw and some I wish I had. I also review the Buffalo wings on offer in Durham.

I also shared our socialising with people from the conference most nights and how I even squeezed in a couple of rounds of golf.

I promised myself I would write this up before the jet-lag wears off...

Enjoy the review! πŸ‚πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸ¦„πŸ»β›³πŸŽ―βœˆοΈ

I'm at the sprints working on nanodjango - but with a slightly unusual setup after my laptop melted on stage!

Updates will be a bit slow as I'm on my android tablet, with a Bluetooth keyboard rush-delivered by Amazon (with a finger-confusing US layout!) working remotely in vim on a cheap OVH VPS.
