#Fosdem today was a lot of fun! A highlight was clearly @destevez ' presentation in the radio room, comparing different SDR flow graph run time behavior, explaining choice and result of benchmarks. I learned a lot! Did you, for example, know (even if you are a #compilers expert) that llvm-mca reports wildly inaccurate things on arm Cortex A53?

I enjoyed #fosdem today.
It was PACKED!
still managed to get a bunch of stickers though. Certainly will be returning to a couple of stands.
Can't ever have enough merch!
If anyone asks, I'm donating to the projects
After about 2 years of volunteering to run infra at Hachyderm, I finally acquired a Hachyderm sticker.
There are plenty of them floating around #FOSDEM though… See if you can find one tomorrow!
Had a blast at #FOSDEM2025 this Saturday, mostly in the #Swift Devroom. Thank you to the organizers and volunteers. Thanks to the other speakers for such a great company and to all the attendees. If you wanted to chat with me but did not get a chance, I’ll be at FOSDEM this Sunday too or don’t hesitate to message me here.
The #infrastructure of #Hachyderm was discussed at #FOSDEM in a Birds Of a Feather. We talked about the different components and why they are structured as they are now, explaining both their history and the financial aspect.
In the photo below @hazelweakly and @esk ; e_nomen and myself were also there.
My favorite #FOSDEM talk I saw today was Emilie Ma on key recovery in end-to-end encrypted protocols. Top notch slides and a great presentation style made a somewhat complicated #cryptography protocol very easy to understand.
Click https://fosdem.org/2025/schedule/event/fosdem-2025-5266-kintsugi-a-decentralized-e2ee-key-recovery-protocol/ and leave it open in a browser tab to watch it when the videos show up.
It was heartening to see so many parents at #fosdem with their kids this year (maybe every year, but I noticed it more this year). Insomuch as Free Software is a social movement (moreso than simply a way for engineers to collaborate), we need that social movement to be as broad as possible.
And on a selfish level, I really want to defeat Roblox et al and truly put my kids future squarely in their own hands. Not sure how yet, but I've been inspired this year to try.
@aeischeid abso-fucking-lutely! I‘m at #fosdem in #brussels atm and the #FOSS community seems to get the same idea - despite #google being a sponsor 🤮
The #riscv devroom was so full that people had to stand everywhere. It apparently was a lot more peeps than last year. That makes me happy.
A ton of folks visited us on the #luanti stand where my @Barti and I helped out and were pretty schocked that stuff this good exists.
#freedom tech for the win!
We started our pub crawl at Delirium Café tonight and ended up at some sports bar. Belgian beer from tap is worth the trip. #FOSDEM
