I bet more people would file taxes if they advertised the benefits like credit card companies.... #fwd50

”The type of work that we need to do to have long-term ability to deliver services to Canadians is this core systems work. If we don't deal with the large platform issues that we've got… This is a 45-year long issue related to execution and our ability to get these hard programs done.” Catherine Luelo #fwd50

When I hear Catherine Luelo at #fwd50, I have a hard time understanding why the work on a GC Design System hasn't been properly resourced in the past. I have some hope, now sur CDS, DTO and PP are in the same "area", but oof, we were trying so hard to make strides on a that front 5 years ago, with very little progress... It breaks my heart a little.

Can I throwback Tuesday to November 2019? Definitely missing not being at #fwd50 in person cc @robbutler

@sboots makes the case that developers working in the open opens things up to scrutiny. This can result in better outcomes. #fwd50
Does this also help establish trust? Developers productivity is literally out there for the public to observe. Certainly we dont want ppl to feel monitored/surveilled, but possibly some sort of public accountability/progress can be beneficial?

Tomorrow, the main stage kicks off at 10AM EST—giving you all an extra hour of sleep—as we conclude the final day of the conference with keynote talks from Nele Leosk, John Cousens from Google Cloud, Riley Ohler, Alexis Wichowski, and favourite Honey Dacanay!

Lastly, we want to thank our wonderful sponsors for helping us make a success! fwd50.com/partners

Nele Leosk (Estonia's Digital Ambassador) at #FWD50 makes me think about digital identity and service customization for Canadian public services:
- how do we achieve this in our federal model?
- how do we balance privacy with "usefulness"?
- while I do think customization can be very useful for people who want it, I strongly believe we need to help people navigate our services without asking for their identity - they should be able too explore services and programs anonymously

The hot goss from this AM’s talk from Nele Leosk of the e-Estonia program is that you are now able to get married online and not yet get divorced online, but it’s coming soon 💁🏻‍♀️ #fwd50

Point about organizations being legacy systems is good (although I have some reservations about how term "legacy system" is often used.)

I will admit I stayed away from Industry Innivations Stage worried that it would be one big sales pitch. I was proven wrong with the session “Unlocking the Power of AI in Modern Data Platforms for a Trustworthy Conversational Daya Experience”. Great session, learned a lot, met some great people. #fwd50

I always wonder about these generalizations about "the private sector." Is the average business in the private sector actually doing leading-edge, agile software development or are we conflating software companies with the whole private sector?

@acroll starts the morning off with a bang, claiming we're not here to learn about digital delivery, but rather saving humanity. #fwd50
