This afternoon at #fwd50 I am a 'mentor' talking about hiring and retention over in the Workshop space https://www.fwd50.com/session/1229/mentor-meetups-convo-codes
I will have cookies and stickers in an attempt to bribe people to come say hello so I'm not Billy No Mates for an hour

“Answering this question in English would be different than answering this question in Kanien'kéha. In English I'd say, 'everything is connected' but in Kanien'kéha it's built into our language in fundamental ways.” Brad Greyeyes-Grant #fwd50
Great Q in the #fwd50 chat about how we replace tech but culture is more resistant to change. Makes me think about pace layers -
"We need to be able to iterate, in production! Instead of getting stuck in planning, in procurement, and in waterfall development. Then we risk running out of budget, running out of time, and getting shut down." Xiaopu Fung #fwd50
"I had to move the public service to deliver as quickly as possible." Minister Anita Anand on procuring PPE early in the pandemic #fwd50
We're adding Christine Lau and Anna Wong, directors from the Service Health Office of the CIO and Digital Talent Development to the #FWD50's mentor lineup to tackle your hardest questions. https://www.fwd50.com/speaker/2053/anna-wong https://www.fwd50.com/speaker/2058/christine-lau
How do we move from directives to dialog? Trusting people to solve the problem in the best way they know how - Great talk by @pahlkadot about not just staying in your lane #fwd50
I do think (and I've said it before) that it all needs a refresh - or at least a formal reflection. It has been a decade plus and there is too much dogma now. We (and I'm part of the problem) failed to be agile about it all - we missed out on the interate, iterate, iterate element! #fwd50
"How do we get mass adoption? We have to make it seamless and easy for our customers." Minister Terry Beech #fwd50
"We've designed policy with the last 10% last, which is, how do you deliver that? We need to flip that." Minister Terry Beech #fwd50
”…it‘s a piece of software, I guess…” Highly accurate line of the day from Xiaopu Fung. 😅 #fwd50
”We are all part of the solution, we can’t just stay stagnant and blame other people. We have to take action.” Xiaopu Fung #fwd50

Former head of the Ontario Digital Service and now CEO of U.S. Digital Response, Hillary Hartley is no stranger to #FWD50. She's part of the crew taking over the stage for this year's Regional Digital Government Summit! https://www.fwd50.com/speaker/2027/hillary-hartley
“For 13 years it's been my job to advocate for users. We expect a lot of trust from people, as governments, but we don't give a lot of trust back.” Martha Edwards #fwd50 @marthaedwards @fwd50
