If ESP32's, MIDI devices and WebSocket connections sound interesting to you, check out my latest blog post. Featured in my talk for #oggcamp

Finally got around to posting a bit about #oggcamp
https://jtlog.wordpress.com/2026/05/01/return-to-oggcamp/
I can't believe it's been a week already.
Pimping my #oggcamp2026 t-shirt at my local radio club @G4SKM
It'd be nice to arrange for some of the crew here to attend #oggcamp next year.
If you did an unconf talk we’d love you to claim it. PRs to https://github.com/oggcamp/oggcamp.github.io/blob/main/content/schedule.md welcome! #oggcamp
Mmm, time for some toast!
I had a good time at #OggCamp at the weekend. There were a few familiar faces, but there was a poll during the intro session where the presenter asked for how many people it was their first time, and between 25%-33% raised their hand, which made for a nice mix.
Polarian (from the XSF) wanted to give talk about Jabber / #XMPP, and I said I would help 😨 .
We originally wanted to have an XMPP stand at EMFCamp, but neither of us got tickets 😭
We managed to get some slides together which we when presented on the Sunday at OggCamp instead.
I tried to record it here: https://pt.gogreenit.net/w/7YzvYkDJVM1e5FcmnCpqkj and the slides (as you can't really see them on the video 😡) are here: https://codeberg.org/chewie/OggCamp-2026-XMPP-Talk, but the funky little USB-C wireless mics worked nicely with my phone!
Note to self for next time - reduce the contrast between the foreground and background of the slides if you want to record it with your phone...
Trying to find any write-ups from #OggCamp - I've seen anything posted on Fedi, I think, but ye gods are there no useful search engines any more for finding current / recent personal blog content? I know not everyone who was at the event has a Fediverse account, but some folks may have written things. The absolute state of the search landscape is so sad 😞

Interesting. I was literally only yesterday saying FOSS is the victim of its own success. I believe in choice—but in practice, it fragments effort and prevents critical mass. Add onboarding friction, inconsistent UX, and—ironically—its own decentralised ethos, and instead of consolidation we get dozens of alternatives competing for the same limited pool of users and developers.

The answer to a the #oggcamp slump is a two hour nap. Pass it on.
One thing I learned at #OggCamp was that this happened so recently...
