I saw 11 new-to-me birds in Long Beach. Conferences are a great way to see new birds!
Visiting the Long Beach Chess Club was a great way to close out a week of PyCon!
This is nuts. We ate at a decent Italian restaurant last night, which I'd recommend to others.
But when you visit the home page for the restaurant, there's no menu available. Instead, there's a chatbot with suggested questions like "Menus in PDF?"
They replaced deterministic links with...questions to a chatbot???
I’m at sprints until 3:00 or so. If you want to talk open source contribution quality, django deployment, or chess, come say hi!
I’m in the back of the main ballroom. Look for the chess pieces!
Texts I’ve received from my 15yo while away at PyCon:
If anyone is interested in talking about gh-profiler, django-simple-deploy, or chess, I’m working in the open area at the back of the hall. Come say hi!
If anyone at sprints is interested in working on gh-profiler, or sharing thoughts about the project, I'll be there around 9:30. I need to take a little walk before transitioning to sprint mode.
If you're not looking to contribute but want to share thoughts or opinions about what signals would be helpful to you when evaluating new contributions, please come find me and share what you're thinking.
uv makes it easier than ever to try new releases of Python. You don’t need to wait for the official release to give it a try!
I think we need to pitch in and buy @miketheman a giant key he can hook up to the Quarantine button on his PyPI dashboard.
When these problematic packages are identified, he can smash that button and feel good every time he does it.

Language matters.
It’s so nice to listen to someone articulate the impacts of the words we use, and the words that are constantly shouted at us by those with giant megaphones.
