After 20 hours of traveling, I finally arrived at the hotel in Long Beach for the conference 🌍
Already met a few friends, took some selfies, and had a first quick look around the city.
So far, Long Beach looks really beautiful ☀️

Learnt a bunch of new ways to query SQL from @pythonbynight's tutorial today at #PyconUS:
aiosql → sqlspec → dbxs → advanced-alchemy
All are valid options, depending on what you and your organization needs from your SQL access layer!
And come to my talk tomorrow at #PyconUS EduSummit to learn more of my tricks for collaborating building RevealJS slide decks with LLMs:
https://us.pycon.org/2026/events/education-summit/
The very first Q I got during today's #PyConUS MCP tutorial:
"what software are you using for your slides?"
RevealJS!

Tonight's entertainment! #PyConUS
With @miketheman and @elthenerd
#pyconus attendees: Can recommend Royal Grill (445 E. 1st St., just northeast of the Westin.) Nothing fancy or "reinterpreted" or "a fresh spin", just straightforward American-Mediterranean classics like shawarma, falafel, börek, lentil soup, etc. 👍
I made this collage of alternate MCP meanings from #PyConUS attendees at today's MCP tutorial.
My favs:
"McDonalds Changed Prices!"
"My Computer's Pissed"
"Muy Caliente, Por favor"
Will be at #PyConUS only tomorrow to talk #documentdb #kubernetes and more - Patty presents https://us.pycon.org/2026/schedule/presentation/157/ (I will be around for questions) and later we both will be at the #Microsoft #GitHub booth - should artivve early from San Diego to beat traffic so reach out if you are up for coffee or want to hang out
I guess it’s time to blow the dust off of this very lonely social media account. It’s #PyConUS time! Looking forward to catching up with folks, especially considering I missed last year (the only in-person PyCon I’ve missed since 2014!)
Who is coming?
OH: it’s the loudest squeak I’ve ever heard from a duck
