I had custom stickers made, specially as gifts for #RubyWorld attendees!
Next week I'll be heading to Japan 🇯🇵 to keynote at #RubyWorld 🙂 my schedule will not allow me to travel far from the venue, but if you are coming to the event, say hi! https://2024.rubyworld-conf.org/en/
Observation - the birdsite, under its original name, appears to remain sticky here in Japan despite the relative popularity of federated alternatives, and reported growth of Bluesky. It makes me slightly sad to see Twitter usernames on slides at #RubyWorld 😞
Here's how and why I gave it all up and moved on to better things - despite lots of followers, and a long history with the platform. You can do it, too!

Mr Shugo Maeda @shugo asking for the conference attendees to show support for the Fediverse and decentralised social web! Arigatou gozaimasu 🙏🏻#RubyWorld
I enjoyed a walk around some historical parts of Matsue City today, ahead of #RubyWorld tomorrow. 🏯
There is some very cool embedded and device stuff going on at #RubyWorld. TIL about PRK firmware for custom keyboards, mRuby-c, PicoRuby, and more. I feel a bit of an interloper with my MicroPython bias - I'll have to check some of this stuff out...
Congratulations to Kevin Newton for winning the Ruby Prize this year at Ruby World, in recognition of his work leading the Prism (YARP) parser project!
I should have done more research when I spoke about Mastodon client apps in my #RubyWorld talk, I mentioned that SoraSNS is made in Japan... of course, so are Feather, Subway Tooter, Dawn, ZonePane, TootDesk and maybe even more that I missed mentioning. I love the diverse range of apps that are available for different cultures and preferences! Thank you to the developer community in Japan! -> https://joinmastodon.org/apps
