Okay nerds. Is #FOSDEM worth going to? I've been idly considering attending for years. Someone convince me either way.
Feels like the vibe is cool, and the city is nice. But it comes across as disease central, which is not great for a sickly sod like me. And yeah the city is nice. But it’s in winter.

Anyone going to #FOSDEM have any advice about how to attend? How do you deal with the sheer volume of tracks? Do you need a plan of attack in advance? Is there any point arriving early / leaving late? Someone must have blogged about this...
I’m a total #Linux newbie but reading the list of accepted stands at #fosdem2025 is getting me sooo excited about attending: https://fosdem.org/2025/news/2024-11-16-stands-announced/
I hear talks at #FOSDEM make it feel like a 2 week conference packed in two days. I can’t wait to see the program.
This will be the first IRL conference I will attend since Women of the World in London (early March 2020). Then the world shut down. And then I had a baby (who’s now almost 4).
I’ve got 40 min to study Linux before she wakes up 😅
Just booked my flights to attend @fosdem next month!
It will be my first time attending and only second time in Brussels.

Introducing #EurovisionFediVote. #Eurovision song contest but with #Activitypub based voting. Where you can run your Eurovision (virtual) party, voting by your followers and peers, celebrating your favourites of the official #ESC final in your community. Sharing your results with other groups. I’d like to see this happening. Let’s build it. Shall we discuss this at #FOSDEM? :)
Is it worth bringing business cards to #FOSDEM?
If so, should I take regular cards, ones with NFC chips, or something else?
How do you reconcile #OpenSource, #humanrights and #antifascism when #zionism is a form of fascism?
I have booked hotel and holidays to attend the #Guix days before #FOSDEM, but just noticed that a notable member of the community appears to be zionist inasmuch as they condone the actual bombing of civilians and blames Iran instead of the Israel government.
I would really appreciate opinions on this.
Right now my intention is not attending FOSDEM this year and stop using Guix.
