O, the irony. 😆
"Boris Johnson turned away from polling station after forgetting ID.
New rules requiring photo ID to vote were introduced by Mr Johnson's government in the Elections Act 2022."
Just had a great idea for a conf talk: "You've got a flamegraph, now what?"
Flamegraph 101 for Rails apps, starting with how to capture, then walking step-by-step through how to read them. Walk through a couple of real flamegraphs from real Rails apps.
Now, just to find the time to travel to a conf 😆
@mjg59 It had somehow never occurred to me that hardlinks have multiple completely independent permissions. That is hilarious and I will now be pondering silly ways to abuse that knowledge. That applies to SELinux type and context labelling too, doesn’t it? Oh dear.
#totp If anyone is wondering why punk happened, this shite is it.
Achievement unlocked: V finally slept through the night. Holy smokes.
@deech “A Psalm for the Wild-Built” by Becky Chambers is maybe close to this. A solarpunk human society where robots have (peacefully) gone off into the wilderness.
Stargate must have the highest clip show per capita of any show ever put on tv.
Every informational metric is under constant pressure to turn into a motivational metric.
You can promise not to use it that way, and Austin dryly observes "most organizations cannot credibly make this promise." It's even a risk in retrospect (e.g. at perf review time.) So there's *massive* pressure -- in money, in social status, in "unwarranted optimism" -- to game the metric.
