The web dev equivalent of seeing the ex who dumped you looking terrible in public is when your former employer launches a new 15MB slow-motion train wreck of a homepage.

Of all the awful takes in development, none grinds my gears more than "silly JavaScript devs JavaScripted too much and now everything's a mess but they got themselves into it haha."

Right, sure, everything was great before, and we just made it complicated because we were silly, bored little dummies who didn't know any better. Our jobs were so easy! Everything is actually so simple!

Fuck off with that reductive bullshit.

Hello friends! How would you prepare for a 50-mile race that starts at midnight?

I seldom go to bed before 23:00, so trying to get extra sleep the day of the race is probably going to fail, but I'm open to hearing your personal strategies!

@officehippy @yofluke @recollir I'm planning on the alternating as well. But hoping to start off with less caffeine to have a more effect later in the race.

Also, we'll be running close to urban areas towards the end so there should hopefully be some options for 💩🧻🚽 🤣

Thank you all!
This is super useful! I'm not big on napping and hopeless at resting with a full family life going on, but can definitely prioritise it the day before!

I will be spending the next few weeks on getting a little more rest than usual, as well. And tapering is gonna start soon, so there's that too :).

Any thoughts on caffeine before / during the race? My initial thoughts are a cup before, and save the rest towards the mid/end (Tailwind)

@michelle Yep, 100Mb/s is perfect to connect to the internal website, but for the whole rest of the internet it's 0.1Mb/s maximum 👌

They are also doing mandatory anti-union training for workers.
