The network feed code in the new Pixelfed app is only 56* lines of code

Really happy with the refactor, it's much cleaner code, not to mention the app is much faster 🚀

Knee-deep as I am in this year's exam season, I am so over the adult-centric nature of children's education.

e.g. the forced delineation of knowledge into subjects, to fit the career path and interests of "a geography teacher", "a physics teacher".

see also: schedules that fit with an adult not a teenage brain; lack of real application of overwhelmingly theoretical teaching; subjects designed only to help the minority who study further; assessment oriented to career, not child, progression.

It wasn't just tomatoes and peppers starting to bloom in the grow tent. One of the surviving geraniums and geranium pots with huge petunias in them booming.

21 pepper plants, a hardy fig tree, and some currant and rose cuttings, and a 50 pot tray of thumbelina zinnias, marigolds, alyssum, and lobelia.

Firstly, I don't know which of these kids are related.

Secondly, I do know that the young people running this group are lax, and don't pay attention. Once I rescued a boy from garotting himself on some rope that was rigged up down a crash mat set up as a slope.

I make sure I always sit in the hall. It's conveniently close to home, cheap, and it's good exercise for the kids. I'm quite protective when I see someone hurt, I don't know these kids one by one but they're all familiar.

I care.

The QA often tells me when my code “works as expected” but just once I'd love it if they said it “works, as expected”

Midnight gardening. I was just pushing in the seeds on the last pot when the grow lights turned off.

2 beans per pot, and 3 seeds on the rest. Put mycorrhizae on everything too.

Current plans is there are no extra pots of veg here except maybe the zucchini and summer squash. Room for two normally or try 4 with them staked vertically.

All veg except the peppers went outside to harden off.

@sil @litherum @bkardell THIS! I don't agree with the implications of either option in this poll

Planted some of the grapes today too after finally laying out a spot the other day. 2 each of Sultana, Thomcord, maybe Delaware, and maybe Moore's early.

Photo of the Thomcord roots and the location after everything planted and staked. I'll probably mulch 2 foot wide on the rows and leave it for mowing in the middle.

Oooohkay. There's a thing in Germany called Kinderturnen. It's like baby gymnastics, I suppose. Often like an obstacle course.

Anyway, one boy is chasing another using a rope like a whip. The younger, smaller boy is crying out. I give chase and get the bigger boy to stop whipping him.

He's like "it's my brother?" and I'm like "so? Doing that hurts!" then, their father tells me again that they're brothers, and it's up to him to deal with them, not me. I'm like, ok.
